During the past several months, NFL players have been kneeling during the national anthem as a sign of protest against the president and racial inequality.
Now, it looks like the prostests have trickled all the way down to high school cheerleaders that are attempting to emulate these players by taking a knee as well.
According to Breitbart, instead of being penalized for it, two California high school cheerleaders were praised by National Public Radio for kneeling during the anthem, an another was praised for writing her own Black Lives Matter-styled version of the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Cheerleaders Sasha Armbrester and Teana Boston of James Logan High School in Union City say that Colin Kaepernick is the one thay “inspired” them to launch their protests and that their high school class work made them want to stand against the country as well.
Sasha wrote a piece for NPR, insisting that the “ethnic studies” class she took in high school taught her that our country is a bad place and made her reconsider standing in honor of it. In addition, she said that her school classes also taught her to look at our history “through a black lens” and the reason she became a cheerleader is to “become a role model” for others. She is with the opinion that standing against the country is a good way of being a leader, but it is a “small thing” she could do to “call attention to racism.”
Her version of the “Star Spangled Banner” is more race-oriented. She is alluding to the false “hands up, don’t shoot” slogan from Black Lives Matter.
“But there is something about this sight. He crawled in the street, hands spread out like his feet but he was still shot in his heart. And I don’t get that part,” one new lyric states.
“I researched a little on what I was actually singing about,” Teana told Sasha about her new lyrics, “and I did realize – it is not the land of the free. So we have to not just say, yeah, freedom, yeah.”
That these girls are being praised for disrespecting our country and it’s disguisting! SHARE everywhere is you agree!
