The Obamas are such egomaniacs that they even consider themselves royalty, which is the exact reason that when they heard that Prince Harry is about tonget married to an American actress, they just assumed that they would be invited. However, they have now been brought back to Earth after it was revealed that they won’t be invited to the wedding after all.
According to Daily Mail , experts are saying that it’s not likely for the Obamas to be invited, out of fears of damaging diplomatic ties with our country. If the prince were to invite them and not the Trumps, it would undoubtedly upset the sitting president and put diplomatic relations between the U.S. and U.K. at risk.
Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe stated that the Foreign Office has told the prince that inviting the Obamas is not such a good idea and noted that no foreign heads of state were invited to Kate and William’s wedding in 2011 as well – take a look:
“There were religious leaders, members of the royal family and commonwealth countries invited. I suspect it will be the same blueprint that Meghan and Harry will use. It’s all so carefully orchestrated on order to avoid political overtones.
Diplomacy is important. The future married couple will be guided by the Foreign Office’s advice.”
The risk here is the following: Markle and Harry have already made it clear that they want to rip up the rulebook for their wedding and breaking traditions – they are having Markle’s mother walk them down the aisle instead of her father. However, regardless of this, Larcombe thinks they won’t be pushing the boundaries that far to actually invite the Obamas:
“Harry and Meghan want to do their own thing, but I still believe they will be very conscious of the fact that, at least from a public relations point of view, they could regret major mistakes for a very long time.”
Barack and Michelle are personal friends of Harry’s, so this snub will sting them particularly hard, but isn’t it high time for the Obamas to realize that they are not royals?
