Arizona Senator McCain just got some bad news when opposition research group Fusion GPS admitted that they helped the researcher hired to compile the Trump dossier to share it with McCain.
According to Breitbart, Fusion GPS founders stated that the aim of sharing the dossier with the senator was to pass the information contained in it to the U.S. intelligence community under the Obama administration. This has made many to question whether the senator was aware that the information he delivered to the FBI was an opposition document funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC.
This takes place a year after the revelation of McCain being the person that handed the dossier over to then-FBI Director James Comey, whose agency used the dossier as a basis for its probe into alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential election. Fusion GPS founders Glenn R. Simpson and Peter Fritch have written oped for the New York Times. In it, they said they helped the senator share the anti-Trump dossier with the intelligence community via an “emissary” – take a look:
“After the election, Mr. Steele said it’s time to share his intelligence with McCain via an emissary and we helped him. The aim was to alert the United States national security community to an attack on our country by a hostile foreign power.”
John McCain’s office did not give any comments on the questions that Breitbart sent them:
“Bearing in mind that Fusion GPS is openly an opposition research firm, was Sen. McCain aware that he was sharing political opposition research on Donald Trump with the intel community? Was he aware that the dossier was partially funded by the DNC and Clinton’s campaign?”
At the beginning of last year, McCain attempted to explain why he provided the documents to the FBI through a statement, but did not mention how he came to possess it or whether he knew who funded it. At the time, he said the following:
“Upon examination of the contents, and not being able to judge their accuracy, I gave the information to the director of the FBI. That has been the extent of my contact with any government agency regarding this issue.”
It is obvious that the senator committed treason – he needs to be under an investigation.
