When Prince Harry proposed to actress Meghan Markle, she was hailed by everyone – they all wanted for her fairy tale dream to come true, and only several months later, the royal wedding is in jeopardy as the actress has fallen out of favor with the public.
There has been an oped posted by The Week, entitled “Who Cares about Meghan Markle?”, in which the princess-to-be is being trashed by writer Matthew Walther. This is what he wrote in the story:
“The revelation that the actress that played Jill in the first two episodes of the 2008 incarnation of 90210 is affianced to a 33-year-old reformed pot smoker and ex-soldier would be of zero significance only if one does not care about the personal lives of H-list celebrities and if it were not for the fact that the latter’s grandmother is one Mrs. Elizabeth Mountbatten – Queen Elizabeth II.
The actress is doubtless a kind and charming woman, but the fact that he has been engaged to Twitter’s @HRHHenryWindsor is just not enough to make her an interesting one.”
Ever since the announcement of the engagement, so many details have come out from the actress’ past that are anything but royal – so many scenes of her simulating sex on “Suits” came to light and there was a clip has surfaced of her bashing President Trump, which is particularly bad since the royals are supposed to remain politically neutral.
According to The UK Independent, while appearing on TheNightly Show with Larry Wilmore last year, Markle was asked how the momentum of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump could be slowed down, and in her response, she held nothing back:
“It’s really the moment that I go, Suits is filmed in Toronto, and I might stay in Canada. If that’s reality we are talking about, that is a game changer in terms of how we move in the world here.
Of course Donald Trump is divisive, just think about female voters alone. I think it was in 2012 when the Republicans lost the female vote by 12 points, which is a huge number, and with as misogynistic as Donald Trump is and so vocal about it, that’s a huge chunk of it. You cannot just vote for a woman if it’s Hillary because she’s a woman, but because Trump has made it so easy to see that you don’t want the kind of world that he’s painting.”
