On his first day on the bench of the highest Court in the land, the brand new Justice showed his interest in his job and the topic at hand, by asking four questions, reports the Daily Mail.
AND THAT WAS AFTER ONLY 15 MINUTES!
As an attorney, I respect and admire judges that pay attention and ask questions. It means that they genuinely care about the case at hand. And that they want to make sure they understand the issues and come to the right decision.
Justice Gorsuch proved, within his first hour of his first day as a Supreme Court Justice that he is just that kind of Justice: one that asks thoughtful questions and shows that he is paying attention.
Once again, our President Trump proves that he is keeping his promise, to:
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
In comparison, not all Supreme Court justices ask many questions. In fact, on February 29, 2016, Justice Clarence Thomas broke ten years of virtual silence on the bench, reported NPR. He says he thinks it’s rude to interrupt with so many questions from the Justices.
I guess that’s one way it could be interpreted….
While I admit, it can interrupt ones flow, lawyers should be prepared to answer questions from their judges. It shows that that they are interested and care enough to get it right.
